Privacy Policy- MeetAny

Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2025

MeetAny (“we”, “us” or “our”) is a global video call/ dating app for adults (18+) that values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect your personal information in compliance with applicable laws (such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)) and platform rules (e.g. Google Play requirements). We collect certain registration and profile information (name, birthdate, gender, relationship goal, optional referral code), photos, bios, and match/chat history to operate and improve our services. We do not collect sensitive personal data (like sexual orientation), nor precise location data. We maintain a transparent, easy-to-find policy as required by data protection laws and Google/Firebase policies termly.io Please read this policy carefully. By using MeetAny, you consent to the practices described herein.

Information We Collect

  • Registration/Profile Data: When you register, we collect your name (or nickname), date of birth, gender, relationship goal, and optional referral code. You also provide a profile photo(s) and an optional bio. We use this data to create and personalize your profile.

  • Contact/Authentication Data: We may collect your email address or phone (if provided) for account verification and to communicate important notices. Payment or billing data is processed by app stores (Google/Apple) and not stored by us.

  • Usage and Match Data: We record non-identifying metadata about your use of the app, such as login times, match preferences (e.g. gender preference), call/connect history (time, duration, participants), chat timestamps, and feature use. This data helps us match you with other users (based on gender preference and language), ensure call quality, and improve our service.

  • User-Generated Content (UGC): Any content you provide, such as chat messages, audio/video calls, and profile pictures. All UGC belongs to you, but by posting it you grant MeetAny a license to use, display or remove it as needed. We store chat content and call logs temporarily to facilitate communication and for moderation or safety purposes. We do not scan or share the content of your private chats with third parties, except as described below.

  • Device/Technical Data: We collect device identifiers (e.g. advertising ID, device type), IP address (to detect approximate region/country, prevent fraud, and serve ads), and crash/technical logs (for debugging). This information is used for app performance, analytics, and compliance. We do not collect precise GPS location data; any location data is at a coarse level inferred from IP (if at all).

We strive to collect only what we need. Under GDPR, we disclose all categories of personal data we process gdpr.eu. We do not knowingly collect information from minors under 13 (per COPPA) or allow anyone under 18 to use the app. If we learn we have collected data from someone under 18, we will delete that data immediately termly.iogdpr-info.eu.

How We Use Your Information

  • Providing Service: We use your registration, profile, and UGC to operate the app. For example, we use your profile info and preferences to match you with others. Chat and call logs are used to connect you with other users and provide real-time communication via our WebRTC/Socket.IO backend (on AWS). Call and message content is end-to-end encrypted, but metadata (e.g. timestamps) is stored for short-term service functionality.

  • UGC and Community Safety: We may review reported or flagged content to enforce community guidelines (e.g. remove prohibited content). Users who violate rules (e.g. harassment, nudity) may be warned, blocked, or banned. We log reports and moderation actions. UGC helps improve user experience (e.g. better matching by understanding interests).

  • Personalization: Your data (except sensitive categories we don’t collect) helps personalize your experience. We may use your gender and stated goals to improve matching. We do not infer sexual orientation or other sensitive traits. We use anonymized usage patterns (behavioral analytics) to improve app features.

  • Communications: With your consent, we may send you service messages or marketing emails (e.g. subscription offers). You can opt out of marketing emails anytime. Operational messages (e.g. password reset) are mandatory.

  • Analytics and Ads: We use third-party analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) to understand app usage trends, crash reports, and feature popularity. Advertising partners (like Google AdMob) may use cookies or advertising IDs to show personalized or non-personalized ads based on your interests and app usage iubenda.comiubenda.com. We disclose all analytics and ad data practices here as required. You can choose to disable personalized ads via device settings (e.g. Google Ads settings).

  • Legal and Safety: We may use and retain data to comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests (see Data Sharing below). For example, we keep basic account logs (login times, actions) to troubleshoot issues or enforce our Terms of Service. We have a “block” and “report” feature so you can protect yourself from unwanted interactions; when you block someone, they can no longer contact you.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

MeetAny may use cookies or similar tracking technologies in our app or website. For instance, we use standard Google Analytics cookies or mobile app identifiers to collect performance and usage data. Under laws like the CCPA, cookies and device identifiers can count as personal information termly.io, so we disclose their use here. We use cookies to:

  • Remember your login or device (for convenience, if you enable it).

  • Track app crashes and usage for analytics.

  • Provide ad-serving functionalities.

We do not use cookies to track your precise location. Where legally required (e.g. in the EU), we will obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies or using advertising featurestermly.io. You can disable cookies in your browser or turn off mobile ad personalization to opt out of tracking.

Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described above. For example, we keep account and profile data while your account is active. Chat and call logs are stored temporarily (typically up to a few weeks) for service and safety; old UGC can be deleted per user request or policy. We retain anonymized analytics data (no direct identifiers) indefinitely for improvement purposes. Importantly, we delete or de-identify personal data when it is no longer needed for any service purpose termly.iogdpr-info.eu. If you delete your account, we erase your profile, messages, and other personal data “without undue delay” as required by GDPR gdpr-info.eu, although backup copies may persist briefly in archived form. Data that must be kept to comply with law (e.g. accounting records) will be limited and secured.

Data Security

We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your data. For example, we use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest for databases, and we limit internal access to user data. Our security measures are in line with GDPR’s Article 32 requirement to ensure “appropriate” security given the risks gdpr-info.eu. Only authorized staff and service providers (e.g. AWS, Firebase) have access to data under confidentiality terms. While we strive to protect your information, no system is 100% secure. In the unlikely event of a data breach, we will notify affected users and regulators as required by law.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in limited ways, including:

  • With Service Providers: We use trusted third parties to run the app (e.g. Amazon Web Services for hosting, Firebase for analytics, payment processors, email services). These providers process data solely on our behalf and under strict confidentiality (for example, AWS will host encrypted data but does not use it for its own purposes). Google’s Firebase/Analytics and AdMob may receive certain data (device IDs, analytics events) under their terms.

  • With Other Users: Your profile information (photos, name, bio, gender) and chat messages are visible to the people you choose to match or communicate with. You should only share what you are comfortable with; we are not liable for UGC you reveal to others.

  • For Legal Reasons: We may disclose information if required by law (e.g. a court order or legal investigation) or to protect rights, safety, or property. For instance, if a user reports serious threats or illegal activity, we will cooperate with law enforcement and may provide the minimal necessary records.

  • In an Acquisition: If MeetAny is acquired or merges with another company, your data may be transferred to the new entity (subject to this privacy policy). We will notify you of such changes.

Any shared data is limited to what is necessary for the purpose. We follow Firebase’s guidelines and do not share any prohibited data categories (e.g. health, precise location, financial details) with Google or others termly.io. By design, we do not disclose users’ sexuality or other sensitive traits, as we do not collect them.

User-Generated Content and Moderation

Your content (photos, messages, etc.) is personal. We retain and use it to provide the service, but you retain ownership. We moderate content to enforce our Community Guidelines. If your content is removed or your account is suspended due to violations, you will be notified and won’t be entitled to a refund for any purchases. Reported content is reviewed quickly by our team; we may delete content or ban users who engage in harassment, hate speech, or other prohibited behavior. You can block or report any user; this helps keep the community safe.

International Privacy

MeetAny operates globally. Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries outside your home jurisdiction. When doing so, we ensure adequate safeguards (such as GDPR-approved standard contractual clauses) to protect your data in compliance with cross-border data rules. If you are an EU/UK user, we comply with GDPR’s requirements (including data transfer mechanisms). If you are a California resident, you have rights under CCPA as described below. We also respect other regional laws like Brazil’s LGPD, Canada’s PIPEDA, etc.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access and Portability: You can request to see the personal data we hold about you (e.g. profile info, usage logs) and obtain a copy of it. (Under GDPR, controllers must provide such access gdpr.eu.)

  • Correction: You can update or correct inaccurate information (like name, bio).

  • Deletion (Erasure): You can delete your account at any time via the app. Per GDPR, you can request us to erase your personal data if it is no longer needed for its original purpose gdpr-info.eu. If you request deletion outside the app, contact us and we will do it “without undue delay” gdpr-info.eu.

  • Limitation/Restriction: You may ask us to limit processing of your data (e.g. stop using your profile for matching) in certain cases under GDPR.

  • Object: You can object to certain processing (e.g. direct marketing, or data analysis) under GDPR.

  • Consent Withdrawal: Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw consent anytime (e.g. to analytics or emails). Withdrawal does not affect data already lawfully processed prior to withdrawal.

  • Opt-Out of Sale (CCPA): If you are a California resident, under CCPA you can opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. (MeetAny does not currently “sell” data, but we allow ad personalization. You can opt out by disabling personalized ads or contacting us.)

  • Non-Discrimination: If you exercise any privacy right under CCPA/GDPR, we will not discriminate or retaliate against you.

  • Additional CCPA Rights: California residents also have the right to request: (1) categories of personal information collected about you, (2) categories of sources, (3) purposes of use, (4) categories of third parties data is shared with, and (5) specific pieces of personal information, twice per year at no charge oag.ca.govoag.ca.gov.

To exercise your rights, please email us at meetanyapp@gmail.com (our support and privacy contact). We will respond within the timeframes required by law. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling requests. You can also manage some information (profile details, preferences) directly in the app settings.

Children’s Privacy

Our service is intended for users 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor has provided us with personal data, we will delete it. We comply with laws like COPPA (for under 13) by not engaging with children’s data, and require parental consent if for some reason minors register. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided information can contact us and request its deletion termly.iotermly.io.

Advertising

We display ads in the app to support our service. We may use both personalized (interest-based) and non-personalized ads. Personalized ads are based on your profile and in-app behavior; non-personalized ads are not tailored to you. Third-party advertising networks (e.g. Google AdMob) may collect or use some data (such as your device advertising ID or app activity) to serve relevant ads iubenda.comiubenda.com. We disclose this collection here and in our app’s ad consent mechanisms. You can opt out of personalized ads by resetting your advertising ID or using available settings (e.g. Android Advertising ID limit ad tracking, iOS “Limit Ad Tracking”) and by following instructions provided by ad networks. Please note that even if you opt out, you may still see ads, but they will not be based on your personal profile.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Material changes (e.g. sharing data with a new type of third party) will be communicated via in-app notice or email. Some laws (like CCPA) require at least annual updates termly.io.
